Meeting started at 4:00 on Thursday afternoon. Secretary noted a gift of one thousand dollars from a long-ago
North Rumford resident, who prefers to remain anonymous, but affectionately recalled the library of her childhood,
still calling it her favorite.
Membership cards have been issued to members who have paid their dues of ten dollars for 2012. Enrollment
forms are on the front desk. Members commented on the attractiveness and convenience of the cards; no more
forgetting whether or not their dues were paid.
Librarian Luke Sorensen recently offered a Kindle and Book Nook presentation to a large and appreciative
audience. Other such offerings will follow. The free-raffle Valentine basket also generated enthusiasm and more
library visits. Friends recently purchased a new refrigerator to replace the old one that had suddenly stopped
functioning, and voted to replenish the gift fund for other library purchases, possibly a projector for Powerpoint presentations.
Members reviewed the bylaws and the secretary will send a mailing to the full membership informing them of potential changes
to be voted on at the annual meeting in October. Article III, Policy, may be amended to expand antidiscrimination protections.
Article IV, Membership, Number 1, may expand the definition of membership from "all individuals" to include
"corporate membership."
Book sale will take place on Saturday, June 23, from 9:00 to 2:00. Secretary will send out a call for volunteers. The Annual
Meeting was set for Thursday, October 18, at 4:00. In the interim meetings may be held as needed and members are giving
thought to future special events and fundraising efforts.
